CDC issued an advisory report on drug overdose deaths between April 2019 and May 2020 with the largest increase incurred between March and May 2020, suggesting an acceleration of overdose deaths during the pandemic. CDC emphasized the need for accessibility of essential services for people most at risk of overdose and expanded prevention and response activities.
