The guidance recommends that facilities encourage virtual parties or visits that limit the risk of transmission, but provides additional recommendations for precautions that residents should take if they decide to take holiday leave to see family. CMS encouraged nursing homes to increase diligence on monitoring for signs and symptoms; testing; transmission-based precautions for any residents that were away from nursing homes during the holiday.
